About Administration for Children & Families
The Administration for Children & Families (ACF) is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that promotes the economic and social well-being of families, children, youth, individuals, and communities through funding, strategic partnerships, guidance, training, and technical assistance. ACF is comprised of 23 offices and administers more than 60 programs with a budget of over $70 billion, working with state, tribal, and local partners to deliver services. Recent items on ACF’s site (2025) include the launch of the “A Home for Every Child” initiative, outreach/letters to 39 governors about diversion of foster youths’ earned Social Security survivor benefits, and the swearing-in of Assistant Secretary Alex J. Adams.
