About this conference

The 44th Annual Protecting Our Children Conference, hosted by the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA), is the largest national gathering focused on Native child advocacy issues. This multi-day event brings together over 2,000 attendees from across Indian Country, including child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice service providers, legal professionals, advocates for children and youth, and Tribal, state, and federal government representatives. The conference serves as the premier national event addressing Tribal child welfare and well-being, offering cutting-edge programming and activities designed to inspire and equip attendees to develop and strengthen culturally based programs, services, and systems change efforts that preserve Native families and promote thriving communities. The theme for this year's conference is "Uniting Our Voices for Our Children, Culture, and Communities."
