The corrugated metal pipe currently in this crossing has rusted out and is failing after 50 years of use. The project involves removing the existing pipe and replacing it with a new corrugated steel pipe. The new pipe will be placed in the same location and position as the existing pipe. The old pipe is to be disposed of by the contractor. All excavations shall have a side slope no steeper than 1 horizontal to 1 vertical. All back fill must be placed in 6-inch lifts and fully compacted. Hand compaction is required along the pipe up to the haunch. Approx 114 CY Excavate pipe trench; 9 CY Hand Compacted backfill; 104 CY Machine compacted backfill; etc.
