The Virginia Department of Transportation's State Bicycle Policy Plan outlines a vision for the future of bicycling in the Commonwealth, aiming to increase bicycle use and improve safety and comfort for all riders. It focuses on clarifying policies for bicycle accommodations, providing staff resources for integrating these policies into projects, enhancing outreach and coordination with stakeholders, and establishing metrics to measure progress. The plan seeks to advance bicycling as a key multimodal transportation option, contributing to improved public health, safety, reduced emissions, and economic development.

This study evaluates existing and projected future traffic conditions on Candlers Mountain Road in the City of Lynchburg, focusing on operational and safety challenges related to congestion. It identifies network deficiencies, formulates corrective measures, and prioritizes improvements. Key projects include enhancements to the Wards Road intersection and access management, improvements to Lynchburg Expressway ramps and terminals, and modifications to the Murray Place and River Ridge Mall, and Mayflower Drive intersections. The plan aims to improve traffic operations, reduce congestion, and enhance safety along the corridor.

This Corridor Improvement Plan aims to deliver faster, safer, and more reliable travel along the Interstate 95 corridor throughout Virginia. It identifies targeted operational, multimodal, and capital improvements, including enhanced mainline and arterial operations, expanded commuter bus services and park-and-ride facilities, and strategic roadway modifications. The plan also evaluates parallel routes to improve traffic accommodation during incidents, with a vision to enhance overall mobility by moving more people more efficiently through various transportation modes.
