This Landscape Assessment, initiated by the United States Air Force Academy, comprehensively documents the current and historic conditions of the Monument Creek Watershed to serve as a foundational reference for multi-jurisdictional, ecologically-based management and future planning. It integrates biological, physical, and social systems analysis to understand landscape dynamics and provides recommendations for a desired future condition for the watershed.

This document establishes the operational conditions for the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse Site Conservation Team (SCT) for the Monument Creek Recovery Population in Colorado. The team's strategic goals include evaluating and proposing a designated Medium Recovery Population within the Fountain Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC), drafting site-specific Conservation Plans, and monitoring Preble's mouse populations and habitat. The overarching aim is to contribute to the 2018 Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse Recovery Plan, ultimately leading to the delisting of the species under the Endangered Species Act through successful conservation and population recovery.
