Teulon

The by-law sets the types, rates, and conditions of payments for compensation or reimbursement of expenses to members of Council and Council committees. It defines 'expense' and 'municipal business.' The by-law specifies annual compensation for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and other Councillors, as well as payments for attending meetings of various boards or committees. It also covers travel and living expenses for special journeys beyond the town limits and provides a monthly mobility allowance. Additionally, it addresses indemnity for citizen members appointed to boards and committees.

The council set tax rates for 2019 to raise revenue for property taxes, local improvements, and special services, in accordance with Section 304 of the Municipal Act. A special service levy of $34.52 per residential dwelling was established for waste and recyclable curbside collection. Additionally, a general rate of .174 Mills was levied to recover deficits from 2015 and 2016, and another general rate of .037 Mills was levied for transfers to specific reserves. A general rate of 13.546 mills was levied for the general controllable purpose of the Municipality.

The Public Utilities Board (Board) varies the revised water rates for the Town of Teulon (Town), Teulon Wastewater Utility (Utility), effective January 1, 2025, January 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027. The Board approves the revised rates and REU allocation as requested by the Town, effective January 1, 2025, January 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027. The Board directs the Town to review its wastewater rates for the Utility for adequacy and file a report with the Board, as well as an application for revised rates if required, by no later than May 31, 2027.
