Tampa Sports Authority

The Tampa Sports Authority's strategic plan is a five-year initiative designed to guide the organization's long-range planning and business lines. Key strategic objectives include diversifying revenue sources, adopting proactive facility master planning, creating positive customer experiences, protecting public assets and customer information, developing an innovative workforce, reducing reliance on subsidies, building community support, and expanding environmentally sustainable practices. The plan aims to align staff and leadership behind these priorities, with success measured quarterly via a scorecard of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

The resolution approves an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2022 budget of the Tampa Sports Authority to meet the requirements of Section 189.016 of the Florida Statutes. Expenses at the Authority exceeded the expense amounts approved in the budget.

The Tampa Sports Authority's budget for fiscal years 2017 and 2018 includes major renovations to Raymond James Stadium, agreed upon as part of the Stadium Renovation Agreement approved in December 2015. The agreement outlines an $86.5 million renovation, with the Sports Authority responsible for $28.8 million. The Authority also entered into an agreement with the New York Yankees for the renovation of George M. Steinbrenner Field and the Himes Player Development Complex, seeking $20 million in state funding. The budget includes revenue and expense assumptions for various events, including Buccaneers games, USF games, Monster Jams, and concerts.
