Spruce Grove

The meeting included an interactive workshop on the draft Strategic Plan facilitated by Councillors. Members participated in a roundtable to discuss recent youth events and community engagement. Administrative updates were provided regarding upcoming tree planting registration and Canada Day involvement, resulting in the decision to host a booth at the Canada Day celebration. Additionally, the committee received a presentation on youth survey planning.

The committee meeting featured presentations from the Policing Committee as well as Spruce Grove Enforcement Services and the RCMP. Additionally, an administrative update regarding committee membership was provided for the record.

The committee meeting covered a chair's update regarding the 2026 Work Plan presentations. A delegation from the Alberta Association of Police Governance delivered a presentation to the committee. The RCMP provided information on current initiatives and operations. Additionally, the committee engaged in a discussion concerning the development of a Policing Committee Engagement Strategy, with plans to revisit the topic at a future meeting.

This document details an update to the City Centre Area Redevelopment Plan for the City of Spruce Grove. It outlines strategies for revitalizing the City Centre, focusing on land use, mobility, urban design, and building guidelines to transition into a mid-sized urban center with enhanced pedestrian-friendly spaces and cultural activities. The update specifically addresses public concerns regarding the Urban Living Precinct's impact on residents, residential density, non-conforming uses, and property values, presenting various options for council consideration to achieve a thriving mixed-use hub.

The committee reviewed and approved the 2025 Economic Development Advisory Committee Activity Report and the 2026 Economic Development Advisory Committee Work Plan, recommending both for submission to Council. Additionally, committee members were selected to present these documents to Council.
