Pipestone Rural Municipality

The Dennis County Planning District Development Plan provides a framework for guiding the planning district, municipalities, and communities. Its key objectives include coordinating planning services, managing development, stimulating economic growth, mitigating land-use conflicts, safeguarding environmental areas, and fostering community revitalization through cooperative action.

The meeting addressed the commitment of funds for upgrades to the Cromer Rink under the capital grants program. Council met with MIT and Stantec regarding flood mitigation planning and reviewed the conceptual dike drawing prepared by Stantec. Actions included sending a letter to First Street residents north of the CP tracks for feedback on the drawing and contacting residents south of the tracks for feedback on their future plans and willingness to relocate.

The Reston LUD committee discussed hiring for the spring and summer, including the roles of Parks and Recreation Manager, seasonal staff, and summer students. Committee members also reviewed the LUD Service Plan for 2015, with the CAO tasked to bring the draft to the January meeting.

The meeting addressed several key items, including the adoption of the agenda, second reading to By-Law No. 2017-01 regarding the closure and sale of a municipal road, and first reading to By-law 2017-03 to authorize the 2017 Financial Plan. Council approved a proposed subdivision, made grants to the Reston Rec Plex, Pipestone Rink, and Reston Memorial Theatre, and agreed to contribute to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Legal Defense Fund. Approval was given for the design of the RM of Pipestone Spray Park, changes were made to the 2017 Council Committees, and the Reston Golf Course was granted permission to use municipal equipment for their annual work bee. The council also accepted personnel reports, an offer to purchase property in Reston, and requested assistance from the Manitoba Water Services Board for the Municipal Water System.

The meeting included discussions and decisions on several key items. The agenda was adopted with amendments to include discussions on speed on 9th Street and deer feeding. The committee was informed about advertising for summer staffing. A grant was approved for Reston Minor Ball, and the 2017 LUD Budget was accepted and recommended to Council.
