The Huron School District's Stormwater Management Program Plan (SWMP) outlines a comprehensive strategy to reduce and prevent pollutant discharge from its Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) into surface waters, ensuring water quality protection. The plan is structured around six core minimum control measures: Public Participation/Involvement, Public Education, Illicit Discharge Elimination, Construction Site Stormwater Runoff Control, Post-Construction Stormwater Controls, and Pollution Prevention/Good Housekeeping. These measures aim to achieve compliance with permit requirements through a structured approach of best management practices and continuous improvement.

This document presents the Huron School District's $65 million zero-tax-rate increase bond proposal. The proposal focuses on four key areas: infrastructure upgrades to improve building reliability and comfort; safety and security improvements to strengthen emergency response; athletic, performance, and play space upgrades; and learning environment and technology enhancements to create future-ready, flexible spaces. The initiative aims to maintain strong, reliable school facilities and protect local property values by addressing aging systems without increasing the current tax rate for residents.

The organizational meeting included public comments regarding the need for a dedicated coach for the Girls Wrestling program. Key organizational actions involved the election of Scott Ferguson as President, Cory Roupe as Vice President, Jennifer Johnson as Treasurer, and Dana Town as Secretary for the term ending January 25, 2027. The Board adopted the schedule for Regular Board Meetings, approved banking and investment depositories, authorized the Secretary and Treasurer to sign checks and invest funds, and designated the Monroe Evening News as the official publication. Legal counsel appointments were confirmed, including Foley & Robinette, P.C. as general counsel, and Thrun Law Firm for elections/litigation and bond counsel. Approvals were granted for several new hires, including district bus drivers and an aide. The Board also approved a resolution calling for an election, an out-of-state field trip for DECA students to Detroit, Michigan, an out-of-state field trip for the Robotics Team to Berrien Springs, Michigan, and a change in dates for a previously approved trip to France and Italy. The Board approved an Account Payable totaling $5,889,902.31 and accepted the appointments to various subcommittees for the remainder of the school year. The Superintendent discussed criteria for school closures based on weather conditions.

The meeting included presentations on activities at Renton Jr High School, including C.H.I.F.S, 6th Grade camp, and the 8th Grade trip to D.C. A presentation was given on the results from focus panels regarding the upcoming Bond. There was also a presentation on the status of State and Federal Programs within the district. The board approved the hiring of multiple Cook's Assistants and an LRE Aide. They approved the purchase of two 2026 Ford Propane Engine buses and the hiring of the 2025-2026 Winter Athletic Coaches. An Unpaid Leave of Absence request was approved for an AFT member. Updates were provided on the Strategic Planning Committee and the LDFA. The board approved the Account Payable. Board members thanked presenters and staff, and the Superintendent thanked the Robertsons for speaking about bullying incidents and acknowledged the work of staff members.

The meeting included discussions and actions on various personnel matters, such as the hiring of a Cook's Assistant, District Bus Drivers, a C.I. Classroom Aide, and an ASD Teacher. The board also approved a change in the JV Wrestling Team Head Coach and a resolution in Support of the Stormwater Management Plan. Additionally, they approved an Out of State Field Trip for the 8th Grade Renton Jr High School Students and the first reading of the NEOLA Board Policy Update. The board approved the Account Payable, and Board members shared Thanksgiving wishes.
