The Franklin Local School District has developed a 'Portrait of a Graduate' to define the essential competencies students need for success in a 21st-century job market and to be college or career ready. Through extensive stakeholder engagement, seven core competencies were identified: Creative and Innovative, Collaborative, A Critical Thinker and Problem Solver, An Effective Communicator, Flexible and Resilient, Self-Driven and Accountable, and Empathetic. This framework provides a strategic direction for designing educational experiences that prepare students for their future paths by developing the whole child.
