The audit committee meeting included discussions and actions on various key items. The agenda was approved, and the election of the Audit Committee Chair took place. The committee reviewed and discussed the confidentiality statement, the Annual Audit Committee Report to the Board of Trustees, and the Annual Audit Committee Report to the Ministry of Education. Also, the financial process and the 2024-2025 Financial Statements were reviewed.

Grounded in anti-oppressive practices, the strategy aims to create safe, inclusive environments by recognizing, preventing, and addressing Islamophobia while fostering understanding and collaboration. Key strategic priorities include cultivating safe learning and working environments, fostering meaningful connections, creating accessible learning opportunities, supporting mental health and well-being, and representing, affirming, and recognizing all identities. The intended outcome is to enhance the experiences of Muslim students, staff, and families across the board, ensuring everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.

The 'Ignite Learning' multi-year strategic plan outlines a roadmap for excellence in education over the next four years. It is rooted in principles of anti-oppression, equity, Indigenous rights, and human rights, ensuring dignity, respect, and belonging for all. The plan focuses on three strategic priorities: Meaningful Learning, Connected Communities, and Well-being. It aims to provide high-quality, relevant, responsive, and inspiring education; foster engagement and trust among students, staff, and community members; and create safe, caring, and respectful environments that support physical and mental health while honoring individual identities, ultimately shaping a community where everyone can learn, connect, and thrive.

The meeting focused on cultural responsiveness within school communities. Key topics included developing an understanding of the necessary mindset for cultural responsiveness, engaging in action items to address diverse social realities, and ensuring representation within the school community to increase student achievement. Discussions also covered the role of allies in supporting diversity, aligning practices with the Ministry of Education's vision, and implementing culturally responsive pedagogy in schools. The importance of understanding intersecting identities and creating identity-safe spaces was emphasized, along with challenges to SCC members to meet the needs of multiple voices within their school communities.

The Durham District School Board's mental health and addiction strategic plan, titled "Linking Healthy Minds for a Positive Future," aims to promote mental health for all students and staff, recognizing well-being as instrumental for academic success. The plan focuses on five key areas: building resiliency, breaking down stigma, building skills and knowledge, engaging parents, guardians, and families, and working collaboratively with community partners to improve pathways for care.
