Dillon County School District 4

The regular meeting commenced with the approval of the current agenda. New business included recognizing Board Appreciation Month with gifts and the reading of the Governor's Proclamation, along with presenting a service award for ten years of service. The Chief Financial Officer provided a General Fund Financial report update for December 2025. The Director of Student Services presented updates on school renewal plans and strategic plans, which the Board subsequently approved. A review of Policy K (personnel policy) was conducted as an information-only item, followed by an update on building projects. During an executive session, personnel recommendations, resignations, and terminations, as well as an athletics request, were discussed. Upon returning to open session, the Board approved four personnel recommendations and two resignations.

The Board also approved the renewal of Brownstone Construction's contract, the purchase of a retention pond cutter/mower, and motions to name the Lake View High School baseball field for Coach Robert Kip Herlong and to place plaques in the Dillon High School gym for Coach McRae and Coach Wilson.

The Board meeting addressed several key items under New Business, including the presentation of a preliminary draft Audit Report for the 2024-2025 General Purpose Financial Statements, an update on underperforming schools with specific presentations on Dillon High School and Gordon Elementary School, and a General Fund Financial report update. The Board approved a motion to present the draft 2026-2027 School Calendar to the County Board, approved the first reading of policies BE and BEA, and approved the implementation of a five-week Man to Man Program at Dillon Middle School. Following an executive session to discuss personnel matters, the Board approved the termination of a teacher as recommended by the District and approved three new personnel recommendations and three resignations.

The Board recognized students for perfect scores on the SC READY state assessment and expressed support for the new Dillon High School Alumni Association. Updates were provided on the General Fund Financial report and the Cohort Comparative Data Analysis for ELA and Math. The Board approved the second reading of several policies and a recycle list. An update was given on completed and upcoming building projects, including approval for funding for awnings at Dillon High School. Following an executive session, the Board approved a US History Coach at Lake View High School, a gift card for each Dillon School District Four employee, and personnel recommendations, resignations, and terminations.

The meeting included a budget update, student services updates, a first reading of policies, a district safety plan, and a building update. The 2025-2026 District Teacher of the Year was announced and recognized, along with Teachers of the Year for various schools within the district. The board also discussed personnel matters in an executive session, including recommendations, resignations, a retirement, a transfer, and a termination. Three travel requests were approved.
