The council conducted a general business meeting where they reviewed and approved continuing education provider applications and instructor requests. Rule modifications for continuing education course attendance and license renewal procedures were discussed and adopted. The council also received a rule status report and a refresher on Florida Sunshine Laws. Furthermore, they reviewed a revision to the Delegation of Authority to expedite instructor change requests and acknowledged staff recognitions and re-appointments.

The meeting agenda includes welcome and introductions, a discussion of local CADR business, an overview of program updates, and other business items.

The Council discussed the 2022 Legislative Proposal and received reports from the Executive Director, the Council Chair, and the Council Vice-Chair. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to a rules discussion regarding various sections of the Florida Administrative Code, including licensing, informed consent for services, at-home birth, collaborative management, administration of medicinal and prescription drugs, and requirements for insurance and financial responsibility. Additional topics covered included the annual report of midwifery practice for the fiscal year 20-21, the selection of liaisons, and the proposal of meeting dates for the upcoming year.

The Council reviewed several applications for licensure by examination and endorsement, granting approval for each case. Further discussions included the reconsideration and approval of a 30-hour continuing education provider application, as well as the conditional approval for a laser hair removal training course pending facility inspection. The Council ratified the examination applicant list and received reports from the Assistant Attorney General regarding rule status and from the Chair and Executive Director concerning departmental updates. New business involved setting future meeting dates for the upcoming year, and old business focused on a discussion regarding a petition for a declaratory statement from the Board of Medicine, resulting in plans for future rule development workshops.

The meeting agenda focuses on administrative proceedings, specifically the review of applications for Board Approved Massage Therapy Schools, including Bright Education Institute, Summit Salon Academy, and Sarasota School of Massage Therapy. Additionally, the Board is set to review numerous applications for massage therapy licensure from various individual candidates.
