Tree Committee Meeting Minutes
The committee discussed the ongoing search for a City Arborist and reviewed the list of removed trees. Updates were provided regarding Development Review Committee attendance and communications concerning the Tree City USA designation. A new Majestic Tree application for a live oak on Brasher Road was approved. The committee passed a motion to list approved Majestic Trees on the city website by address. Discussions were held regarding the allocation of Mitigation Funds for tree planting at the Sherman Canaan Port Park and the Popps Ferry Dog Park. Additionally, the committee received information regarding a MS State Restore Act Grant which provides funding for tree planting, and members were tasked with identifying planting areas in their respective wards.
