Louisa County's 2040 Comprehensive Plan serves as a guide for the community's future physical development. It focuses on three major themes: conserving the county's rural character and way of life, recognizing that growth management tools are essential for preparing and planning for the future, and protecting established and future communities. The plan provides detailed ideas for preserving rural character, planning for public services, and ensuring a healthy future economy.

The Planning Commission discussed proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance concerning campground regulations. The commission focused on differentiating between major and minor campgrounds by establishing criteria for acreage, campsite capacity, and zoning permits. Key discussions included the implementation of by-right zoning with specific operational restrictions for minor campgrounds, associated fee structures, landscaping requirements, and administrative enforcement mechanisms. Commission members also debated the practical challenges of regulating small-scale, private campground operations.

The board meeting included a closed session regarding real property acquisition and consultation with legal counsel. Recognitions were presented to Mr. Lloyd Runnett for his years of public service to the county and to Megan Barrett as the 2026 William G. Thomas Educator of the Year. During the public comment period, a request was made for the board to revisit and potentially modify the ruling on electronic signage for agriculturally zoned properties, specifically for church use.
