The Auburn City Council held a special session focusing on economic recovery. Discussions included health and emergency response updates, the state of health within the community, and city actions and services. The council also addressed expanded outdoor dining, business personal protective equipment needs, and the potential for a 4th of July event, while emphasizing the importance of common-sense guidance and restrictions.

The meeting included discussions on the approval of the agenda, a roll call, and the consent calendar. Key topics included the 2021 street resurfacing project, environmental determination, and permission to advertise. Council members raised questions about the streets to be paved, project timelines, and coordination with Placer County. The council also discussed the Pavement Management Index (PMI) update and the process for handling streets that may no longer be eligible for resurfacing.

The workshop included updates on the health emergency response, city actions and services, and discussions on the Old Town Maple Street billboard. Updates were provided on Placer Shares program and additional grant programs. The Auburn Chamber of Commerce report included information on upcoming events, such as the city council candidates forum, a headshot fundraiser, and Halloween trick-or-treating plans. The decision to cancel the festival of lights was announced, but alternative plans for holiday lighting were discussed.

The council convened a special session and a motion was made to adjourn to a closed session.
