Strategic Plan
This strategic plan outlines a research project focused on understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate and habitat change on New York State's maple-related industries. The key focus areas include: quantifying and modeling biodiversity and climatic impacts on maple sap production and fall foliage; engaging maple syrup producers in data collection and discussion; combining scientific data with creative communication for public outreach; and fostering interdisciplinary student engagement and training. Intended outcomes include identifying actions to ensure the persistence of sugar maples and their industries, fostering public perception change regarding global warming and biodiversity, and developing hands-on, cross-disciplinary training.
