New York City Housing Plan 2026-2036
The Block by Block plan outlines Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani's comprehensive strategy to address New York City's housing crisis. The plan focuses on eight key pillars: empowering tenants and strengthening enforcement, preserving affordability and improving housing quality, securing NYCHA's future, building neighborhoods for working people, expanding and stabilizing homeownership, reducing and preventing homelessness, investing in strong jobs and innovation, and achieving public excellence. It aims to build 200,000 new affordable homes and preserve 200,000 existing homes over the next decade, fostering an affordable and equitable city where residents can live with dignity in safe and stable housing.
