The commission reviewed an application for a special permit to establish an indoor recreational facility at 830 South Main Street, which would involve interactive light activity rooms. Additionally, the commission discussed a petition for a zone change from R-20 to R-20A for the property located at 435 Maple Avenue to accommodate the future expansion of a family-owned professional services business.

The meeting included a proclamation designating Mental Health Awareness Month in the Town of Cheshire. Additionally, representatives from Wright Pierce presented an update on the Infiltration and Inflow (INI) study, highlighting the age and deterioration of the wastewater collection system, concerns regarding wastewater treatment plant capacity due to extraneous water, and a proposed plan for ongoing maintenance and repairs to address these infrastructure issues.

The Committee reviewed construction progress and drone footage for school sites. Discussions included the aesthetic and cost considerations for wood ceiling alternatives, resulting in the approval of alternates for both the North End and Norton schools. The Committee evaluated and awarded numerous construction bid packages for both school projects, including waterproofing, window installation, drywall, food service equipment, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical services. Additionally, the Committee reviewed builder's risk insurance policies and formally approved the coverage for both school locations.

The Commission addressed several administrative and operational topics, including the approval of 2025 meeting dates, the election of Chair and Vice Chair officers, and the approval of the Annual Report. A proposal for restoring hiking trails at Boulder Knoll was discussed and supported. Ongoing projects were reviewed, including the status of the Trails Stewards Group, upcoming plans to reconvene with Planning and Zoning regarding the Plan of Conservation and Development, and updates on various open space management properties. Additionally, the Commission received information regarding habitat inventorying from the CACIWC annual meeting and reviewed updates concerning the Water Pollution Control Authority's sewer service area map.

The committee reviewed and approved sign permit applications for Barnes & Noble and Marshalls locations on Highland Avenue. A virtual site walk of South Main Street properties was conducted to discuss and prioritize locations for future tree planting initiatives, including coordination with property owners and establishing maintenance responsibilities for new plantings.
