This document outlines the Region of Queens Municipality's Strategic Priorities for 2026-2029, developed through a comprehensive community engagement process. The plan aims to foster a prosperous and sustainable Queens County, envisioning a thriving, naturally beautiful, rural community where everyone is welcome. It is guided by principles of unity, responsible growth, collaboration, climate resilience, inclusion, and transparency. The strategic priorities are structured around four key pillars: Economic Development, Environment and Infrastructure, Community Wellness, and Governance, with the goal of achieving thoughtful, sustainable, and inclusive growth aligned with community needs and values.
The council meeting included discussions and decisions on various topics. These included road naming for Lingley Lane and Audrelyn Lane, a Mill Village Fire Department truck purchase, challenges in interpreting the expense policy, a concession proposal for QPEC, and site selection for the Liverpool Library. Additionally, the council reviewed a council implementation report from January to December 2023, covering actions taken on previous recommendations.
The meeting included a review of accident reports, including an incident at the MRF facility. Departments provided updates on tool box meetings and upcoming training sessions, including Traffic Control and Signing, Defensive Driving, and First Aid/CPR. An update was given on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee Webpage and the Digital SDS Library. Safety suggestions were discussed, including concerns about used syringes at ball fields. The Safety Observations Program was reviewed, and updates were provided on playground inspections and the lifting of the COVID-19 Health Protection Act Order.
The agenda includes discussion of accident reports, tool box meetings, and training. New business includes safety suggestions and a safety presentation on the safe handling of biohazardous medical waste and sharps in RQM workplaces. Also discussed was the concern that the public entering the Planning & Development door are able to walk directly into the offices on either side. Cold and Flu season precautions were reviewed. A presentation on the playground inspections conducted in RQM was given. Discussion of staff training for all sites are being had, as well as sharps containers for all RQM worksites.
Approval of entering into a development agreement with Parson's Investments Ltd. to allow for a new multiple unit dwelling or dwellings, containing more than 10 units, on a portion of the property identified as PID#70245931, and located in the Community of Milton.
