The Human Relations Commission convened to discuss the presentation regarding the installation of two plaques intended to correct historical inaccuracies concerning the events surrounding the 1885 Yuen Kee laundry fire involving Chinese settlers.

The Hearing Officer held a special meeting to review and act upon multiple conditional use permit applications. Approvals were granted for a work/live unit at 50 N. Mentor Avenue, a standing seam metal roof installation at 1655 Carriage House Road, the establishment of a wine specialty shop with off-site sales and on-site tastings at 1055 E. Green Street, and the construction of a new academic laboratory at 1200 E. California Boulevard involving modifications to the Caltech Master Plan. Environmental determinations, including exemptions and an addendum to an environmental impact report, were adopted for all projects.

The meeting included informational presentations from the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Los Angeles and the City Prosecutor regarding senior scams. Committee reports were provided covering senior dementia awareness, housing, mobility, and outreach/education. Staff also provided updates on health programs and the upcoming Morton Kesten Summit.
