The council discussed and approved a financial pledge to the Hiawatha Economic Development Corporation, passed ordinances regarding local speed regulations and a comprehensive update to the City Code of Ordinances, and authorized a development agreement with Peck's Landing, LLC. Additionally, the council approved procedures for disposing of property in the Urban Renewal Area, established various public hearing dates, authorized the creation of a steering committee for the Robins Road Corridor, and approved several reports and resolutions including fiscal year planning, holiday schedules, and meeting schedules for the upcoming year. A request for Fire Department online training was denied, while approval for department recognition events and tree removal on future park property was granted.

The council discussed and approved several items, including the issuance of various General Obligation Capital Loan Notes, with related public hearings held for each. Significant infrastructure projects were addressed, such as a design contract amendment for the Willman Street Signal Project, the procurement of traffic signal components, an engineering contract for the Center Point Road Rehabilitation Project, and a design contract for the 12th Avenue Overlay project. Additionally, the council authorized the purchase and trade-in of police handguns and approved a contract for the preparation of the city newsletter.

The council meeting addressed several operational and developmental matters for the city, including a report on the Get Out the Vote campaign, updates on economic development efforts in the town center, and the approval of a development agreement with O'Brien Property, LLC and Focal Point Interiors, Inc. The council also scheduled a public hearing for the 2036 Comprehensive Plan, approved building design guidelines for a commercial development, granted a sidewalk deferment, authorized the purchase of a vehicle for the Community Development Department, and approved multiple fire department-related procurements, including station lighting, protective gear, and an air compressor. Furthermore, the council appointed eight volunteer firefighters, approved construction payments for the Boyson Road Trail Extension and Tower Terrace Road projects, and established the holiday and council meeting schedules for the upcoming period.

The council held a special session to conduct a closed session in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 21.5(j) for the purpose of discussing the purchase of real estate.

The council conducted interviews for the City Administrator position. A closed session was held under Iowa Code Section 21.5(i) to evaluate a candidate's professional competency. Additionally, the mayor discussed the involvement of department heads in the interview process.
