The Council approved the FY 2014 Budget Amendment following a public hearing and set a date for a future public hearing regarding Fire Department ordinance modifications. Additionally, the Council adopted resolutions supporting police and fire department involvement in the local Hog Wild Days event, issued a geothermal well permit, approved an "At Your Own Risk" building permit for a commercial project, established compensation values for intersection improvements, authorized a construction change order due to subgrade issues, amended the snow and ice control policy, renewed employee benefit contracts, and officially opposed the use of CMPO funds for skywalk construction.

The commission held a public hearing to consider a rezoning request from Agricultural to Central Service District for a property on Robins Road. Additionally, the commission reviewed and recommended approval for several items including the preliminary and final plats for Croell's Redi-Mix, a site plan for Croell's First Addition, a revised site plan for the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center, and site plans for Legacy Stone, Squaw Creek Millwork, HACAP, and Hydra-Fab.

The board conducted a public hearing regarding the 1.0 MG Water Storage Tank Improvement Project, with no objections raised. The meeting included the Superintendent's report, which provided an update on the upcoming bid proposal for the tank project and confirmed the sale of an old water truck. Other business topics included the status of future watermain replacement plans on Robins Road, a report on the completed installation and testing of the Midtown watermain, and a review of a proposal from Grabill Electronics for antenna installations on the Robins Road water tower.

The commission discussed coordination efforts for future oral history interviews and the status of audio recording archives for the city website. Strategic planning for the year included creating an inventory of vault contents, determining methods to open a vault safe, preparing content for a public newsletter, and organizing a celebration for the city's upcoming birthday. The group also scheduled future time to conduct work within the vault.

The commission conducted an interview with Lynda Hembra and discussed several operational updates. Key topics included the potential redesign of the Hiawatha t-shirt logo to simplify printing, new legislative requirements regarding mandatory Open Meeting and Open Records training for commission members, and the status of recent insights responses.
