The County of Santa Barbara's RENEW initiative, launched in 2017, is a multi-year organizational transformation and strategic planning effort. It aimed to rethink technology, people, and processes across five core areas: re-visioning the organization, re-balancing resources, re-designing work, responding to residents with high-quality services, and retaining high-performing employees. The plan cultivated a culture of accountability, customer focus, equity & inclusion, innovation, and trust & ethics (ACE-IT values) and implemented transformational behaviors (CARDS).
