Florham Park Environmental Commission Meeting Minutes
The Environmental Commission discussed and approved the meeting dates for 2026. New business included exploring continuing education programs, such as a master gardener program through Rutgers, and outlining potential 2026 events like Earth Day and Arbor Day activities. In old business, progress was reported on ordering custom shirts with the EC logo, allocating funds for new floating wetlands at Spring Garden Lake (SGL) and discussing tree planting plans, including the replacement of failed pickerel weed with viburnum shrubs. The commission is awaiting a pre-application meeting with the NJDEP regarding a grant draft, is in the early stages of a Morris County Trail Grant for SGL improvements, and paused the townwide tree survey until spring 2026. The commission also plans to coordinate with the NJ Invasive Species Task Force for an SGL survey in spring 2026, and discussed ongoing efforts to solicit volunteers and manage social media content.
