The Rhode Island Wildlife Action Plan is a 10-year strategy designed to guide wildlife conservation efforts within the state. It provides a framework for wildlife management, decision-making, and protection of species of greatest conservation need. The plan outlines key areas including the identification of 542 species of greatest conservation need, 37 key habitats, and 13 statewide threats, along with associated conservation actions. It also details procedures for monitoring, adaptive management, and fostering partner and public participation to ensure the ecological health of Rhode Island for the next decade.

This plan provides Prudence Island managers and residents with information and strategies for wildfire mitigation. It identifies wildland fire hazard areas, assesses current fire suppression capabilities, and outlines methods for public education to reduce structural ignitability, meeting federal CWPP criteria. The panel reviewed the Division of Marine Fisheries' update on the 2024 commercial landings and dredge survey data for the Providence River, including the 2025 Harvest Simulator results. A report on the 2024 shellfish transplants was provided, along with an update on remaining funds for 2025. Additionally, the Division of Law Enforcement presented a clarification regarding dealer reporting regulations.

The objective is to enable HOAs to effectively protect, maintain, and improve their urban forest resources, ensuring long-term health, environmental benefits, and community resilience.

This document provides a comprehensive framework for urban tree management, detailing a three-step approach: 'Know What You Have' through inventory and data management; 'Plan and Manage' by developing community forest master plans, ordinances, and urban tree canopy analyses; and implementing an 'Emergency Management Plan'. The guide emphasizes maximizing the economic, social, and environmental benefits of urban forests, justifying budget needs, establishing clear responsibilities, and supporting communities in maintaining and restoring healthy tree canopies.
