The Bond Accountability Committee meeting serves as a working session to discuss and finalize the committee's charter.

The committee meeting addressed an annual charter school report, provided an update on an interim assessment tool, reviewed instructional resource recommendations for 6-12 social studies, and presented on the use of AI in Portland Public Schools. Public comments were heard regarding the impact of state financial literacy mandates on elective course availability and concerns over the historical accuracy of certain social studies curriculum materials. The committee also discussed academic performance, improvement plans for specific charter schools, and demographic data compared to district averages.

The Board of Education convened to receive public comment regarding the proposed budget for the upcoming school year. Discussions centered on the district's financial outlook, specifically addressing rising costs in employee compensation and benefits, declining student enrollment, and the impact of pension obligations. Various students and parents provided testimony regarding the importance of specific school programs, including the racial equity and social justice initiatives, specialized education services at Access Academy, and career technical education (CTE) programs, emphasizing the need for continued funding and the impact of potential service reductions.

The board meeting primarily focused on the Allstar Awards reception, which honored students for their leadership, character, and contributions to their school communities across several categories including Native Pride, Latinx heritage, Young Gifted Black Diaspora, Pacific Pride, Asian-American Excellence, New Portlanders, and the newly established Community Champion award. Following the recognition ceremony, the board proceeded to address agenda items including a resolution to recognize Teacher and Administrator Appreciation Week.

The board is hosting community engagement sessions regarding the district's rightsizing initiatives. The sessions are open to the public for in-person attendance or virtual participation, with provisions for written comments, media recording, and accessibility services including interpretation and disability accommodations.
