This plan outlines Sunnyvale School District's commitment to ensuring every student is known, prepared, and equipped for a joyful and purposeful life. The plan prioritizes accelerating academic growth for all students by strengthening high-quality Tier 1 instruction, improving literacy and mathematics outcomes, and accelerating results for historically underserved student groups, including English Learners and students with disabilities. Key focus areas include building coherent Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across academics, behavior, attendance, and wellness, and fostering safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments where students feel connected and supported. It aims to provide equitable opportunities for growth, empower students to take responsibility for their learning, and achieve mastery in core content areas.

The strategic plan aims to align all educational partners in a shared vision, common goals, and unified direction for the district's educational efforts over a six-year period. Developed with vital community-wide engagement, the plan's core promise is to ensure every student is known by name, strength, and need, ready to excel in high school and beyond, and to lead a life of joy and purpose.

The committee held a session to elect a Vice Chair and review financial and operational reports. Key topics included an overview of the Measure Y Parcel Tax, which funds teacher salaries and benefits, and the District's financial outlook regarding budget stabilization. Expenditure and project progress reports were discussed for Measures GG and C, covering modernization efforts at the Sunnyvale Middle School, including the new two-story classroom building and Student Union. The committee also discussed strategies for increasing community outreach and recruitment, as well as the scheduling of future meetings.

The meeting focused on the campus modernization project, specifically discussing the design and implementation of all-access restrooms to ensure student safety, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the committee reviewed strategies for classroom modernization, aiming to improve functionality, flexibility, and the integration of technology and storage solutions across several buildings. Feedback was provided on indoor environmental quality, lighting, outdoor student support features, furniture flexibility, and electrical requirements to ensure the design meets district standards while supporting modern teaching methods.

The committee meeting covered updates on school events and parent engagement initiatives, including technology and parenting classes. Key agenda items included a review of CELDT data comparisons and an explanation of the Language Review Team process, including reclassification criteria for English Learners. Discussions also addressed student performance data in Reading and Math, as well as the progress and needs related to specific Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals. These goals focused on socio-emotional well-being, literacy instruction, community engagement, and transparency in communication within the district.
