The town hall meeting in District 1 & 2 focused on the Unified Development Code. The code aims to consolidate land development regulations, addressing conflicting codes and interpretation difficulties for city staff. The process involves four modules, with the first module presented during the meeting. The modules cover general provisions, zoning districts, land use, and definitions. The goal is to revise existing regulations to be unified and intuitive, aligning with state and federal laws. The meeting addressed concerns about the impact of industrial zoning on residential areas, particularly in East and North Lubbock, and the need for changes to promote progress and address historical segregation.
