The Plan Commission discussed and recommended for approval a Conditional Use Permit to establish an eating establishment in the Midtown-Mixed zoning district at 8820 W. North Avenue.

The committee reviewed the 2025 Other Fund Results regarding the Fund Balance Policy. Additionally, the Finance Department provided reports on the 2026 First Quarter General Fund Financial Results and the 2027-2031 Five-Year General Fund Forecast.

The board reviewed three new business items. Approvals were granted for a detached 3-car garage at 1851 Church Street and a memorial park addition at 700 W Capitol Drive. A redevelopment project at 501 W North Avenue was held for further evaluation, with the board requesting revisions to the grocery store's orientation, window design to improve visibility, and clarification on material treatments.

The Board of Public Works reviewed three key agenda items. They approved a request for construction staging in the public right-of-way at 8701 Watertown Plank Road, including a requirement for a pedestrian-activated temporary crossing. Additionally, the board recommended for approval an encroachment request for the Medical College of Wisconsin Student Housing Development at the same location, as well as a grade crossing surface construction and maintenance agreement with the Soo Line Railroad Company regarding the Watertown Plank Road and N 115th Street utility and paving project.

The commission participated in a training session focused on strategic communication and goal setting. Three primary goals were adopted for future advocacy: enhancing the sensory zone and accessible parking at community celebrations, increasing the commission's public profile, and advocating for the adoption of the Comprehensive ADA Transition Plan for the city. Members discussed strategies for effective communication, defining target audiences, and utilizing input from the ADA Coordinator network to facilitate the adoption of transition plans.
