The Board of Education held a Good Beginnings Workshop facilitated by a consultant from the California School Boards Association. Key discussion topics included a review of the Brown Act basics, including public access, digital etiquette, closed session confidentiality, and meeting procedures. The Board also participated in a governance working styles questionnaire to assess team dynamics and interactions. Additionally, the workshop covered effective meeting strategies and future governance handbook updates.

The Board convened for a retreat dedicated to receiving Conflict of Interest Training, which was facilitated by consultants from the California School Boards Association. In addition to the training, the Board reviewed and discussed operational protocols and established standards for safety, decorum, and community participation during public meetings.

The committee discussed several key topics including an introduction to Artificial Intelligence in the district, covering safety, responsibility, and available student resources. A presentation was provided on the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), focusing on strategic goals for student academic support, bilingual instruction, and English language development, as well as the implementation of fixed-grant funds for learning recovery. Furthermore, the meeting included a review of the English Learner Needs Survey results to gather parental feedback and identify areas for growth.

This School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for Fremont Elementary aims to improve student outcomes and address achievement gaps across various student groups. Key objectives include enhancing ELA and Math proficiency through targeted interventions, professional development, and consistent instructional practices like SIPPS. The plan also focuses on reducing chronic absenteeism and suspension rates by fostering a positive school climate, implementing social-emotional supports, and improving student and campus safety. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen school-community ties, promote cultural understanding through arts integration and culturally responsive teaching, and significantly increase parent and family engagement.

The meeting included the recognition of a student for their accomplishments and community service involvement. The board addressed personnel matters such as employee appointments, resignations, retirements, and disciplinary cases in closed session. The board also reviewed public meeting protocols and conduct rules. A significant portion of the session was devoted to public comments regarding the Edison High School cheerleading program, where students and community members provided testimonials regarding coaching staff and expressed concerns about program consistency and leadership.
