The City Council conducted its 1,636th regular meeting, during which it formally recognized Stacy Flint with a resolution commending her service on the Thornton Arts, Sciences, and Humanities Council Board of Directors. The Council reviewed the agenda, which included resolutions, policy directions, budget amendments, and ballot initiatives. Key items discussed included a property transfer for a multi-modal path construction, scheduling for external stakeholder meetings, and a board appointment. The Council addressed ordinance amendments to align local code with state law regarding penalty limits for municipal code violations. Furthermore, the session focused on planning the City Attorney recruitment process, including evaluating options for an interim acting City Attorney and selecting an executive search firm for the permanent position.
The 2026 Annual Action Plan for the City of Thornton outlines the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The plan addresses four priority needs: Affordable Housing, Public Services for Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) and Homeless residents, Public Facilities and Infrastructure, and Effective Program Management.
