Valley Water Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan 2045
This Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan supports California Assembly Bill 1279, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2045. It outlines strategies to achieve this goal by tracking and forecasting emissions, establishing a carbon budget, and implementing reduction measures across Scope 1 (direct operations), Scope 2 (purchased energy), and Scope 3 (indirect emissions). Key initiatives include transitioning fleets to zero-emission fuels, increasing facility electrification, enhancing water conservation efforts, and monitoring carbon sequestration from habitat restoration projects. The plan sets a specific target for 2030 and an ultimate vision of zero emissions by 2045, with ongoing implementation involving annual tracking, consistent reporting, and biennial Board updates.
