The committee meeting will focus on the academic year priorities for 2026-2027, a discussion regarding data-informed strategic areas of focus, and an update on the Dirigo 2026 initiative.
The meeting includes a review and discussion of the Draft Strategic Planning Committee Charter. Additionally, there is a presentation of the Spring 2026 Strategic Vision Reports, covering the state of the MCCS regarding students, employers, and personnel, as well as a strategies report. The committee will also review and provide recommendations for the FY2027 strategies.
The board discussed the challenges of the SIS implementation project and introduced the new NMCC President. The Education Committee reported on program reviews and changes, specifically approving a new communication and media program along with substantive changes to medical assistant and emergency medical services programs. The Strategic Planning Committee presented a 12 and 24-month strategies report for trustee review and feedback. Additionally, a request was reviewed regarding the authorization for Eastern Maine Community College to proceed with the sale of property located at 50 May Street in Dover-Foxcroft.
The meeting featured a report from the system President regarding agenda and meeting format changes. Committee reports included the Education Committee recommending the discontinuation of the Physical Fitness Specialist program, and the Finance Committee presenting an audit for acceptance. The Strategic Planning Committee discussed its future meeting schedule and focus on system progress reports, while the Workforce Development Committee highlighted metrics and progress on training and grant goals. The Governance Committee initiated a process for committees to develop their own charters for future review. Additionally, the Board reviewed the Four Pillars of the Strategic Plan and held an executive session to discuss personnel and contractual matters.
The Board of Trustees held a meeting that included an executive session to discuss a personnel matter. Following the executive session, the Board unanimously approved a resolution to appoint the new President of Eastern Maine Community College and authorized the finalization of the terms of employment.
