The council discussed and approved an amendment to Section 51.17 of the Mariemont Code of Ordinances, focusing on increasing the fees collected for garbage and refuse pickup. The decision was based on the Finance Committee's findings that expenses were projected to exceed revenue from the existing fees and recycling rebates. The council also considered an increase in the fee charged by Rumpke for waste and recycling collection.

The Village of Mariemont Economic Development Strategy focuses on increasing the commercial/industrial tax base to maintain the high quality of life without raising resident taxes. The strategy identifies four key areas: retaining, expanding, and attracting industrial tenants in the Mariemont Industrial Park (with potential financial incentives); encouraging adaptive reuse of underperforming commercial spaces in the Town Center; considering municipal boundary expansion through annexation; and exploring public-private partnerships for development on underutilized Village-owned properties. Recommendations include financial incentives (Community Reinvestment Area, Job Creation & Retention Incentive Grant), business retention visits, marketing, and coordination with REDI/The Port for the industrial park; a Downtown Redevelopment District and Innovation District for the Town Center; and a Request for Information process for infill development. The strategy also analyzes municipal finances, demographics, market conditions, and target industries to inform its recommendations.
