Coleman Community School District

The agenda included discussion items such as banners/city council matters, a Coleman rental proposal, and a proposed date change for the August 19 board meeting. The board approved the Application for Preliminary Qualification of Bonds to Treasury Resolution for the November 2024 Ballot and approved changing the August 19, 2024, board meeting date to August 26, 2024, due to the Open House.

The meeting included discussions and approvals related to the Elementary and Jr/Sr High Handbooks for the 2019-2020 school year, MSAC Revisions, Strategic Intervention Solutions Math Numeracy & Problem-Solving PD, District Employee Recognition Dates, setting the date for Graduation, and the Coleman Community Schools Organizational Chart. The board also acknowledged personnel resignations and a retirement, as well as a donation of sand for playgrounds.

The meeting included presentations from Jennifer Tallman and the Elementary Choir. The board recognized a donation from Robinson Industries to the Elementary School and a grant from Midland Area Community Foundation for Elementary Audio Enhancements Systems. They also acknowledged the resignation of Deana Webb. Discussion items included an ESA Board Meeting update, student board representatives' reports, the Mystic Lake 6th Grade Overnight Camp, the District Liaison to the School Safety Commission & Office of School Safety, and the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). The board approved the Mystic Lake 6th Grade Overnight Camp, Deputy Brandan Hodges as District Liaison, the Emergency Operation Plan (EOP) for the District, and the Superintendent Evaluation.

The meeting included updates on the ESA Board Meeting, first readings of the Elementary and Secondary Handbooks, and first readings of MSAC Revisions. The board also discussed the CEA tentative Contract Agreement in a closed session and later approved the CEA Contract. Additional items included approval of personnel such as a part-time Jr./Sr. High English/Social Studies Teacher, Elementary Secretary, and Jr./Sr. High Special Education Teacher, as well as volunteer Class of 2023 Co-Advisors.

The meeting included presentations on Regional Agriscience Center updates, financial literacy, and educational technology updates. The board discussed an ESA Board meeting update, student board representatives, and a Women in Sports Leadership Conference. They also considered the potential thinning of North Bradley Forest Property. The board approved a survey and the thinning of North Bradley Forest Property, as well as the Women in Sports Leadership Conference overnight trip.
