The governing body of the City of White Settlement has proposed a tax rate of $0.714778 per $100 valuation, which is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means the City is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2025 tax year. The public hearing will be held to discuss the proposed tax rate.

The City Council convened an emergency meeting to address a critical situation involving a broken 24-inch water main. The City Manager requested and was granted the authority to hire a contractor for the urgent repair. The Public Works Director explained the circumstances, including the involvement of an ATMOS sub-contractor and the unsuccessful attempts to isolate the leak. The repairs are essential to avoid service interruption to a significant portion of the city's residents. The City of Fort Worth was notified of the leak.

The White Settlement City Council meeting included presentations from White Settlement ISD Superintendent Frank Molinar, representatives from Pattillo Brown and Hiii regarding the FY 2018 - 2019 CAFR, and City Manager Jeff James who introduced Trent Petty as the city's Economic Development Consultant. The council discussed and took action on several items including amending the Zoning Ordinance, rezoning a tract of land, amending fees related to computer printing, copying, and facsimile services at the library, confirming support for the proposed Provision at Bomber Road Apartment Home Development, establishing a distance separation between properties containing multi-family residential development in proximity to the Lockheed Martin Facility, approving and adopting the Silver Creek Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, authorizing the sale of certain real property, authorizing the purchase of certain real property, and amending fees related to residential building permits. Additionally, the council made an appointment to fill an unexpired term on the Crime Control and Prevention District.

The meeting was a workshop led by Mr. Trent Petty, a consultant, to discuss the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The workshop included group exercises for council and board members to provide input on mission and vision statements, and to identify specific priorities necessary to realize the mission and vision. The top priorities identified were to revitalize, develop, rebrand, and rethink. Mr. Petty discussed ranking of growth imperatives and looking at potential mixed use areas. He also discussed The Mechanics of Improvement: How which Included Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, Economic Incentives, Special Taxing Districts, Public/Private Partnerships, Strategic Land Assembly, Opportunity Zones, and Strategic Plan Expectations.
