Key areas of focus include facilitating growth through orderly land regulation, providing diverse housing options, preserving open spaces and historic resources, ensuring a safe transportation system, and promoting a sustainable economy. The plan emphasizes community engagement and sustainability to improve quality of life and sense of community.

The meeting included presentations from Cary Johnson and Chris Collins, as well as the Fire Department. Discussions covered old business items such as the price of entryways from landscaping companies, the audit punch list, budget requests from various city entities, updates on insurance benefits, ditch digging, and cleaning the Crisco Ditch. Further topics included a Police Department update, a Building and Development update, a budget amendment for the Pumper Truck, and a transfer from the General Fund into the Solid Waste Account. The board also considered repealing and conveying authority vested under Section 4.20 of the Unified Development Code, acceptance of an MDEQ Solid Waste Assistance Grant, a draft ordinance on zoning, permitting and regulating cannabis, adding an overlay district to all commercial zone areas, the Mayor's State of Emergency regarding Canton City Hall's A/C Unit, an amended contract for the Fire Protection Services Central Madison County Fire Protection District, property cleanups, replacing a culvert, approving boundaries for the Entertainment District, approving credentials of new members for the combined boards, and replacing a street light. The meeting also included an executive session.

The meeting included discussions and updates on various topics such as the red light on King Ranch Rd and Hwy 22 West, prices for maintaining entryways from landscaping companies, the audit punch list, budget requests from city entities, insurance benefits for employees, and tree removal from the city parking lot. There was also a discussion on development on 43 and Dinkins St and a proposal to add an overlay district to commercial zone areas. Budget amendments were authorized and approved for the Tax Anticipation Loan 2022, MDOR diversion, State of MS, Flood Alleviation, and the transfer of ARPA Funds into the General Fund. Additionally, the purchase of code books for the Building and Development Department and an Email Migration Tool for the city were authorized and approved. Ratification of Promissory Notes by Trustmark for Streetsweeper and Pumper Truck was authorized and approved, along with a Draft Ordinance to dismantle the Planning Commission and merge it with the Zoning Commission, and the Human Resource Policy. The meeting also included an executive session to discuss building matters, the Public Works Department, Supervision and Finance, and potential and threatened litigation.

The meeting included discussions on scheduling the cleaning of ditches and debris, updates on cleaning the Crisco Ditch, addressing drainage issues, and updates on the Movie Theatre and Jackson Bro Service Station. The board considered the renewal of automobile physical damage and inland marine coverages, Copart's appeal of a stop-work order, and approvals for construction invoices related to ditching in the City of Canton. They also discussed the approval for building Deep South Precast, transferring funds from Modernization Funds to General Funds, and extending the lease agreement with the City of Canton and CVB. Further considerations included an amended agreement for ditch digging, overriding the mayor's veto, and purchasing touchless garbage trucks. The agenda also covered authorizations for personnel to attend conferences and consent to entry on state-owned properties, as well as approvals for the Christmas Parade and Turkey giveaway. An executive session was held to discuss matters related to various departments and potential litigation.
