The workshop focused on planning for the second semester of the school year. Key discussion topics included data analysis from recent testing, strategies for professional learning to support student growth, and the implementation of instructional coaching. Discussions also covered the use of data quadrants to track student progress, interventions for students not meeting benchmarks, and the integration of elective teachers into school-wide data analysis. Additionally, administrators addressed the importance of aligning school improvement plans with identified needs and outlined the structure for upcoming data chats with schools to monitor progress and resource allocation.

The board meeting featured recognitions for community partnerships with the health department, as well as athletic achievements of high school teams across the district. Citizen input was received regarding NAACP education objectives and LGBTQ support services. The board approved a consent agenda of seven routine items and reviewed and approved the quarterly inspection report from the Office of Safe Schools, which confirmed full compliance across five inspected schools.

The board meeting focused on improving community engagement and communication strategies, including extending representative terms for chambers of commerce and launching district-wide communication tools. Metrics regarding the success of parent engagement platforms, language translation services, and parent app adoption were reviewed, along with initiatives to combat chronic absenteeism through the Attendance Plus module. Additionally, the board received an update on the competitive solicitation process for stop arm enforcement technology for school buses.

The workshop meeting focused on reviewing priority two objectives regarding staff professional learning, including tools and resources to promote student success. Discussions covered the addition of new committee members, induction plans for new hires, and the creation of professional learning opportunities tailored to various support staff roles such as administrative assistants, custodial, maintenance, and transportation departments. Additionally, the committee evaluated metrics for professional learning effectiveness, internal alternate certification pathways, and the grow your own program, as well as mid-year staff retention data.

The meeting featured the recognition of district volunteers and business partners, including the selection of the East Elementary School PTO board as the Volunteer of the Year and the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce as the Business Partner of the Year. Additionally, the board recognized numerous long-term employees for their years of service, awarding challenge coins to staff reaching their 35th year and pins to those reaching their 30th year. An agenda item regarding a public hearing on instructional materials petitions was deleted from the proceedings.
