Cato Meridian Central School District

The meeting included financial updates, recommendation of a new board member to the school board, and recommendation of three new hires to the school board. Darlene McArdell will retire in June. Plans for a 20-year anniversary celebration on August 25th were discussed, including potential fireworks and inviting organizations to participate with games and products. The center is offering many programs, including a new Yoga instructor.

The meeting addressed the issue of overtime compensation for Kim due to a shortage of lifeguards. A decision was made to compensate her at time and a half for any hours worked over 40. The appointment of Madalynn Skeldan, Hannah Hulbert, and Megan Kyle as lifeguards was approved, pending completion of lifeguard certification and Civil Service approval.

The meeting addressed the payment of employees during the current situation. A decision was made to lay off all employees except Kim Bratt indefinitely, with a plan to re-evaluate the situation in two weeks. Kim Bratt will handle all work during the layoff period.

The meeting included discussions on providing logo'ed swim caps to swimmers, attending the Fall House of Delegates meeting, and the possibility of QJS3 team officially joining the Cato-Meridian Otters. Parameters for a senior level for swimmers were discussed, along with updating Cato-Meridian Otter bylaws regarding residency requirements for Parent Board officers. The board also discussed parent involvement from QJS2, fundraising options, and the potential use of Team Unify for team management. The possibility of holding more meets, scoreboard options, grant writing, and grooming a Meet Director were also discussed. Additional topics included the April Gold Official Sanctioned time trail, the fall session of Cato-Meridian Otters, open houses, team registration changes, background checks, athlete protection training, and fundraising ideas such as cotton candy at Homecoming, Doug's Fish Fry, the Snowflake ball, and a Christmas bazaar booth.

The meeting addressed payroll for employees during the shutdown, deciding to pay them for the next two weeks with assigned work from home. There was also a discussion on how to handle memberships, with a decision to continue fees but institute a hardship policy for those unable to pay due to the circumstances.
