This Comprehensive Plan for Berkeley County, initiated in 2010, serves as a blueprint for guiding growth and development over the next fifteen to twenty years. The plan identifies five guiding principles: protecting and promoting distinctive communities, managing infrastructure effectively, respecting and enhancing historical and natural resources, providing county-wide recreational opportunities, and implementing a clear, fair plan through simplified processes. It aims to balance growth with the preservation of the county's character and quality of life, addressing issues such as population trends, housing, economic development, transportation, land use, and environmental factors.

The committee discussed a presentation on Lowcountry Smokefree, focusing on the potential benefits of a smoke-free environment and the consideration of an ordinance to promote health. The committee also considered an ordinance to amend sections of Ordinance No. 09-06-33, related to the adoption of state-mandated building and safety codes, specifically moving from the 2006 version to the 2012 version.
