Board meetings and strategic plans from Alabama Department of Personnel
The meeting addressed the appeal of William Hamilton, who was dismissed from the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH). The ADMH dismissed the Employee effective April 18, 2025, based upon charges contained in a letter dated the same. The charges included violations of ADMH policies related to employee conduct, prevention and management of unprofessional behaviors, and abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation. The Administrative Law Judge's Recommended Order was considered, and the Board upheld the decision of the appointing authority to dismiss the Employee.
The meeting addressed the appeal of Travis Boyd, an employee dismissed from the Alabama Department of Corrections (DOC). The DOC dismissed the employee effective September 26, 2023, based on charges of violating several administrative regulations and state personnel board rules. The Administrative Law Judge recommended reinstating the Employee with full backpay and benefits, offset by interim earnings. The Board adopted the findings and concluded that the decision to dismiss the Employee was not supported by the evidence, ordering the DOC to reinstate the Employee to Correctional Officer, Senior, with full backpay and benefits, offset by interim earnings.
