Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine

The Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) reviewed the site visit report for the Comprehensive Site Visit conducted at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) in December 2023. Subsequently, the COCA voted to grant ACOM the accreditation status of Accreditation with Exceptional Outcome, effective for 10 years. Reporting requirements include a mid-cycle report in academic year 2028-2029 with a student survey, and annual supplemental reporting.

The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) strategic plan is centered around providing learner-centered osteopathic education, research, and service to medically underserved areas. The vision is to be recognized for significantly impacting physician workforce needs and enhancing access to quality medical services. Core values include integrity, service, passion, innovation, respect, excellence, and diversity. ACOM aims to support students' experiences outside the classroom through social, professional, and personal development opportunities.

The ACOM 2021-2026 Strategic Plan focuses on academic excellence, people, engagement, and research. Key areas include improving student success and wellbeing, promoting excellence in teaching, strengthening assessment, and maintaining high standards. The plan also aims to recruit and retain exemplary faculty and staff, enhance communication, expand clinical education through partnerships, promote community engagement, support research, and strengthen data-driven decision-making.
