The Governing Board of the River Water Management District is requesting sealed bids for a per ton timber sale comprised of approx. 173.3 acres within the Clark Bay Conservation Area Conservation Area in County. The Sale Area is located in Section 24; Township 16 South; Range 30 East. Sale boundaries are defined by hardwood swamps, roads, firebreaks, and clear changes in timber type. This timber sale consists of a logger-select thinning within mature longleaf pine stands established in 2004. Timber removal will include every third row for access, along with a selective thinning of the remaining rows to achieve an average target density of 150 trees per acre, or a basal area of 50 to 60 SF per acre. Timber to be removed from the remaining rows shall be harvested in the following order of priority: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees as needed to reach the target density. Dominant trees shall not be harvested from the remaining rows. The District estimates the timber volume conveyed in this Agreement to be 3,518 tons of pine pulpwood and 208 tons of chip-n-saw; however, the District does not guarantee that the volume is present.
