TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY: Carbon Fiber Sleeve Tempers Battery Thermal Runaway (MSC-TOPS-119)

Description: NASA seeks inquiries from companies interested in obtaining exclusive or nonexclusive license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer sleeve technology. The sleeve is designed to contain thermal runaway within an originating cylindrical lithium-ion battery cell and prevent propagation to other cells, while offering a low-mass, nonconductive alternative to aluminum or steel. NASA states that it provides no funding for the potential licenses and expects no follow-on procurement; interested companies should submit a license application through NASA’s technology licensing system.
