Description: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Lands Highway Division, seeks qualified contractors to crash-test and evaluate Steel-Backed Timber (SBT) roadway safety hardware for the off-National Highway System (NHS) system under AASHTO MASH 2016 criteria. The work covers three devices—a Steel-Backed Timber Guardrail Type A (Std 617-60), Steel-Backed Timber Terminal (Std 617-69), and Steel-Backed Timber Transition (Std 617-67)—plus finite-element modeling, test-article fabrication, test-vehicle procurement, and project reporting and deliverables.
