South Dakota’s Rural Health Transformation workforce effort is designed to attract, develop, and retain professionals across critical roles and care settings in rural and frontier communities. It combines recruitment incentives such as sign-on bonuses, relocation assistance, and rural service stipends with education supports including tuition assistance, paid clinical release time, and flexible training. The State’s RHT RFPs are posted through its Posting Board to strengthen access and long-term sustainability in rural communities, and the Department of Health describes the RFP awards as future contracts.
