This Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) project involves intersection improvements along U.S. Route 40 from Cliff Avenue to Little Blue Parkway near Independence in Jackson County, Missouri. The work includes clearing and grubbing, grading, concrete pavement, and signal upgrades to improve traffic flow and safety along the Route 40 corridor. The project has a bid opening scheduled for August 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in the Spring 2027 construction season following the 2026 World Cup.

The proposed project consists of constructing right-turn deceleration lanes at the Intersection to improve vehicular access and safety. The project also includes associated drainage improvements to support the roadway modifications and maintain adequate stormwater conveyance. The work includes roadway widening, grading, pavement construction, pavement markings, traffic signage, storm drainage improvements, roadside ditch modifications, and erosion and sediment control for all disturbed areas.
