Summary
Cr 80a currently exhibits signs of stress, cracking and significant rutting in the existing pavement. Resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation work has been considered to extend the service life of this section of cr 80a and to enhance highway safety. The purposes of performing this project were to review the pavement condition of the subject section of cr 80a and to provide an engineering evaluation of the conditions encountered. We accomplished these purposes by: reviewing existing information provided to us. preparing a field coring plan showing the locations of the pavement cores. taking a field photo of each core location in the direction of traffic. obtaining 27 pavement cores. The cores were obtained in accordance with section 3. 2 of the department of transportation (fdot) materials manual. performing pavement coring and measuring the cross slope and rut depth at each location. identifying all layers of each core including base material. transporting core samples to our laboratory for further examination and extraction and gradation laboratory testing. preparing a field pavement structure exploration plan showing the location of performed tests for the section of the subject area of cr 721 exhibitinement g the roadway conditions. reviewing each sample obtained in our field pavstructure exploration program by a geotechnical engineer in our laboratory for further identification and assignment of laboratory tests.
